2005 "Cheap Shows"
Hosted by JJ Armour and Ken Kaufman
January: Sideways.
Cute, but were last year's movies so cruddy that this is really so
Oscar-nom-worthy?
February: Hitch.
Definitely entertaining by Februyary standards -- some good laughs.
March: Robots.
We aren't tiring of clever animation anytime soon.
April: Sin City.
A cinematographic treat. But difficult content to ingest. JJ left after
30 minutes.
May: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the
Galaxy. Great to see those wonderful stories from that wonderful
book. But unfortunately, a little zing was simply lacking.
June: Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Been
there, done that (e.g., True Lies), but some pricelessly funny lines.
July: We will go to the 12:30 showing of
War of the Worlds
at the
Regal Cinema Bethesda at 7272 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda. We'll meet
in the lobby around 12:15, and go afterwards to the Booeymonger
Deli on East-West Hwy. for a bite to eat. If you're not interested in the
Smiths, there's plenty of other stuff showing there around then; watch your
film and meet us afterwards.
August: Dark. See you in
September.
Movies are normally on the second Saturday of the month. Check this space
or your Cap-M for scheduling changes.
