January: Galaxy Quest. A great
spoof of everything Trekkish.
February: The Hurricane. Intense
tale of justice undone that moves quicker than its 160 minutes.
March: Mission to Mars. JJ says
her enjoyment of science fiction films is inversely proportional to the
quality of the science therein. She liked this film.
April: Rules of Engagement. Good
setup, but the deus ex screenwriter resolution was disappointing.
May: U-571. If you like sub films,
this should have everything you need.
June: Shanghai Noon. This marshal
arts spoof was often hilarious.
July: A double feature of the wonderfully silly
Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and
X-Men: The Movie, a much more
entertaining comic adaptaion than many that have made it to the silver
screen.
August: Space Cowboys. Yes, some
gaping scientific silliness, but great interaction among the four leads.
September: The Crew. Only about
four people in the theater, but those who did show up found the film
downright hilarious.
October: Best in Show. Guest hostess
Anne says it was very funny, with a dry Spinal Tapesque humor.
November: Charlie's Angels. One
of the silliest, campiest films I've ever seen, peppered with a few cunning
stunts.
December: A double feature of high-altitude peril: The preposterous
Vertical Limit and the delightful
The Grinch.
