Paul McCartney

RFK Stadium, Washington DC, 7/4/90

A friend offered me these tickets at the last moment, and was I ever glad to have gone. Paul is not only a legend, but also a master showman. And it was such a thrill to see such standards as "Can't Buy Me Love," "Yesterday" and "Hey Jude" being performed by their composer himself (well, we helped with some of the Nananananananas :-) ). On this Independence Night, Paul even sang "Birthday," dedicated to the US. And we weren't totally missing out on fireworks -- the "Live and Let Die" visuals included some pyrotechnics that the reviewer from the Washington Post correctly said left the audience feeling "both shaken and stirred."
